Most Diablo 4 players don't lose their best gear because the item is weak; they lose it by rushing the last upgrade. That's the real connection between Tyrael's Might and the Entropic Tuning Prism. One protects your character through defense and full-Life pressure, while the other reduces the risk attached to finishing an item. Keep your D4 Gold for gear that already fits your build, not for a chest or weapon you may replace after the next loot session.
Tyrael's Might Is a Defensive Mythic First
Tyrael's Might has a flashy identity, but Divine Barrage shouldn't be the reason you equip it. The July 14, 2026 update fixed the bug that could make the barrage deal no damage, while the current Mythic power also supplies 20% Damage Reduction. The projectile effect still triggers around full Life, so the chest is most impressive on builds with reliable healing, shielding, or enough avoidance to stay topped off during high-tier content.
Its fixed Primary Core Stat and All Resistances make the chest easy to evaluate, but not automatically best in slot. Ask what the slot is giving up. A specialized chest may provide skill ranks, resource support, cooldown reduction, maximum Life, or a build-defining power that adds more DPS than Divine Barrage. Tyrael's Might wins when its resistance and damage reduction let your rings, boots, or pants focus on missing stats rather than patching defensive holes.
Do This Before You Spend Rare Materials
Think of the chest as part of a loadout, not a trophy sitting in your stash. Check these points before committing to Transfiguration.
Test the build in the content you actually farm, not only against training targets.
Confirm that full Life is realistic during elite packs and boss phases.
Compare the lost chest power against the practical value of 20% Damage Reduction.
Finish Enchanting, Tempering, Masterworking, sockets, and inserted gems or runes first.
Keep a second candidate if you want to chase a higher ceiling later.
Entropic Tuning Prism: Safety With a Lower Ceiling
Standard Transfiguration offers the bigger possible payoff, but its result pool can also push a finished item away from its intended role. An Entropic Tuning Prism narrows that pool by removing the most dangerous outcomes. That makes it a preservation tool, not a guaranteed DPS upgrade. A modest Item Quality result can still feel underwhelming on a weapon that already has excellent offensive rolls.
From what I've seen, armor usually makes a better candidate for the controlled route because defensive gains stack across the whole character. Weapons need more scrutiny. If only an exceptional offensive result would change your clear speed, save the prism and wait for another weapon. On Tyrael's Might, the decision is less about raw damage and more about protecting a chest that already holds together your resistance and survival plan.
The Crafting Details That Change the Decision
Mythics are Ancestral items with a 30% increase to their Unique powers, and their other affixes roll at maximum values. The Horadric Cube recipe uses an eligible Unique item and four Pandemonium Fragments after the July 14 cost reduction from five. A crafted Mythic also has a special equipment limit: only one crafted Mythic can be equipped, while dropped or cached Mythics don't share that same restriction.
Situation Better Choice Reason
Temporary chest Wait The item may leave the build soon.
Finished Tyrael's Might Controlled result Preserving its role can matter more than peak RNG.
Second weapon copy Standard result You can chase more DPS without risking the active weapon.
My Rule for the Last Click
Transfiguration should be the last action, especially after Masterworking has landed on the affixes your build needs. The July 14 update also corrected cases where Mythic affixes could be replaced through Transfiguration and fixed nonfunctional Greater Affixes appearing on Mythics, but that doesn't make an unfinished item ready. At least in my experience, the safest setup is one dependable item for current endgame farming and one growth item for ambitious rolls. Protect the gear carrying your build, then use buy D4 Gold only as part of a settled upgrade plan rather than spending around a temporary idea.
